Then on Saturday evening Matthew and I went to Sweet Tomatoes with Jocilyn for the first time. A buffet with a baby is a lot of work. You have to carry the diaper bag and the baby food, and carry the baby, and his special high chair cover, not to mention maneuver a tray through the line and stop to scoop all the fixins from the salad bar. Good thing Jocilyn was so helpful. She worked the trays. Matthew was a good boy again, and slurped on his food, although he did not get unlimited trips to the buffet. A few years ago my purse was stolen from the booth at Sweet Tomatoes. I am always on guard when I go there now. This time thankfully neither my purse nor my baby were swiped!
On Sunday morning we went The Duffs for breakfast. Jenn cooked bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. Matthew ate some oatmeal then played with Shepherd and his toys for a bit. Then since it was such a nice morning we went to the neighborhood park in Sheppy's wagon. We played on the swings for a bit, and Matthew had a great time. By the time we were ready to leave Matthew played so hard he fell asleep before we even got out of the neighborhood.
In the afternoon Jen and Jaime stopped by for a bit to say hi and hang out, mostly while Matthew was napping. They were in town for a concert and detoured their trip to see us for a bit. Turns out they should have stayed longer. They ended up sitting in 6 hours of stopped traffic on I-75 due to a bunch of terribly fatal car accidents that shut down the interstate.
Matthew didn't think his weekend should end just due to Monday showing up on the calendar. After an hour or so at his babysitter's house Alex picked up Matthew for a daddy playdate with Sean and Savannah Rollo, and then on Tuesday Matthew played hooky all together and spent all day at Granna's house. They played with some new toys, went on a walk, read some books, and had a great time. No wonder Matthew has slept so well recently!
